چکیده
Takashi Kitano, Satoshi OOta and Naruya Saitou (1999) Molecular evolutionary analyses of the Rh blood group genes and Rh50 genes in mammals. Zoological Studies 38(4): 379-386. All mammals probably possess the Rh blood group gene and its homologous Rh50 gene coded membrane proteins. In this study, we compared nucleotide sequences of Rh and Rh50 genes for primates and rodents. We found that the rates of synonymous substitutions of both genes were roughly constant, and the divergence time between mouse and rat was estimated to be about 30 million years ago (mya). Heterogeneity of the evolutionary rate between primates and rodents was suggested. We also compared amino acid changes of outer-, inner-, and trans-membrane regions of the Rh and Rh50 proteins. Amino acid changes of outer-membrane regions were more frequent except for primate Rh genes. To obtain an improved estimation of divergence time, it is better to have multiple calibration points for the molecular clock. The time of gene duplication that produced the Rh and Rh50 genes was estimated to be about 340-380 mya.

Background and Aim: Thalassemia is a genetic disease whit relative or complete lack of alpha or beta globin chain. Patients with moderate and severe form need to have multitransfusion in early life. Occurrence of all immunization against blood group antigens in patients with thalassemia is relatively high and may have difficulties in treatment and transfusion. Antibody production against this b...
متن کاملIsolation of cDNA clones for a 50 kDa glycoprotein of the human erythrocyte membrane associated with Rh (rhesus) blood-group antigen expression.
The Rh blood-group antigens are associated with human erythrocyte membrane proteins of approx. 30 kDa (the Rh30 polypeptides). Heterogeneously glycosylated membrane proteins of 50 and 45 kDa (the Rh50 glycoproteins) are coprecipitated with the Rh30 polypeptides on immunoprecipitation with anti-Rh-specific mono- and poly-clonal antibodies. We have isolated cDNA clones representing a member of th...
متن کاملRh-deficiency of the regulator type caused by splicing mutations in the human RH50 gene.
The Rh polypeptides and the glycoproteins Rh50, CD47, LW, and glycophorin B, which interact in the red blood cell membrane to form a multisubunit complex, are lacking or are severely reduced in the Rh-deficiency syndrome. We previously reported that in several Rhnull patients the RH50 gene was altered at the coding sequence level, resulting in either a single amino acid substitution or the synt...
متن کاملA novel single missense mutation identified along the RH50 gene in a composite heterozygous Rhnull blood donor of the regulator type.
Rare individuals who lack all of the Rh blood group antigens are called Rhnull and may be classified as "regulator" or "amorph" types. The suppression of Rh antigen expression for regulator types may be attributed to mutations of the RH50 gene, which is independent of the RH locus. The RH50 gene encodes a glycoprotein that interacts with the Rh proteins to form a functional complex within the r...

Background and Objective: Of all blood group systems, RH is one of the most important blood groups, which its compatibility is one of the essential principals of transfusion. Two genes (RhD and RhCE) locate on chromosome 1, and encode the Rh proteins. RhD is an immunogenic antigen. We describe a rare Rh phenotype D-- in this report. Case Report: A forty- nine- year- old man, who receiv...
